Thanks!
Last year I made these individual making words folders for my entire class of 28 kiddos so I made 30! I lOVE my folders, but it took me a long time to write all these post-it letters out. BUT the folders are so awesome because it really helps students sound words out while spelling and allows me to check for understanding while they are "playing" today during my reading groups we just have a group contest because this center can be used for all levels of students. I have each student a blank piece of writing paper and had them number their papers. Then, they had to spell out as many words as you can. As you spelled a word you would write it down on your paper and whoever made the most words won! I gave rewards to Firdt, Second, and Third place! They had so much fun! They were so quiet and really trying hard to win! Here is some pictures of the Making Words Folder.
If you are interested in getting the letter template to make your own Making Words Folder just leave me a comment with your e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you!
Thanks!

What are you doing for secretaries week at your school? This week each grade level chose a day to make or give a special gift to our wonderful secretaries! Tomorrow (Wednesday) is our classes day! So we made a "We heart you" banner. I snuck into the office after school and hung it up so it would be there when they walked in early in the morning... Sssh! :-) we drew a big heart on the pink butcher paper and then each student took a plain piece of white paper and they traced their hands and decorated them how ever they wanted to! They did a great job! Soooo..here is our lovely secretaries week banner!!
I have recently made a math paper that is story addition problems. Students can create their own math problem by illustrating it, writing the math equation, and writing it out in sentences. I used this math sheet for our insect unit. They got to draw two different insects and choose how many they drew and then illustrate, write the math equation, and write it out in a sentence! Here our some examples.

It's that time again! Science experiment Friday! I really try hard to incorporate some kind of science experiment every Friday. This past Friday our experiment was over Probocis. We made butterfly hats on Monday so we could transform into butterflies on Friday. So, on Froday we put our butterfly hats on and transformered into butterflies! Check us out!
Once we transformed into butterflies I showed them our supplies for the experiment! Here they are... Small cup, straw, apple juice, flower pattern.
They came to the conclusion with these supplies and and us being transformed into butterflies that we could see if we could use the straw like the Probocis. Sooo... We we filled our cups with apple juice, placed our flowers on top, and at the same time we began! It was such a great activity! Here are some of my butterflies!
It was a really fun activity! Try it and have fun! :-)
Did someone say worms?!? YES! Gummy worms! Since we are talking and bugs and insects today we used a non-standard unit to measure! We used funny worms! We measured our books, pencil box, crayon, pencil, etc. then, we ate them! Check out the photos and if you want your own copy of this worksheet head on over to my TpT store and get your today right here!

check out her blog and enter today! During our plant week we also learned about how plants get their water. This is also another easy science experiment to do in class and the Learners think that it's so cool! What you need:
White carnations Food coloring Clear containers to put the flowers in Water Fill the containers with water, add the food coloring, and cut the carnation stems at an angle. Add the carnations and watch what happens. We did this experiment in Friday and its day over the weekend and we are still watching it!! Here are some of our photos from our class photog! Try it yourself to see if you get the same results! If you try this experiment comment to tell me what colors you tried and which ones worked best! My class chose the red and green. :-)
This is really a simple and fun science experiment to do with the kiddos! And all you need is a small bag of Cheetos! :-)
To start the experiment the kiddos have to be in pairs. I already have pairs in my classroom because I use teaching pairs. Teaching pairs teach each other important facts during my lesson is I tell them to teach their partner. So, they are paired with a partner. Each learner will get to be the "flower" and the "insect". The flowers job is to hold the Cheetos. The insects job is to land on the Cheetos and get pollen (Cheetos dust) on their fingers. So one partner starts as a flower, they hold the Cheetos the other partner takes their pointer and thumb and rub the Cheetos between their fingers. Then, one they think they have enough pollen to pollinate the next flower they tell their partner to flip. The "flower" flips their hand over with their top of their hand up and the "insect" lands to see if their pollen falls off when they land on the next flower and move around. Then, get the hand sanitizer out and the partners switch jobs! Easy breezy! Here are our photos! :-) The Learners had so much fun and just loved doing this science experiment!
This past week we studied plants. We did lots of fun activities. Hope you enjoy them and find some great ideas!
On Monday we started growing our bean plants and started our observation journals. You can find this book here.
We had a great plant week. Check out the pollination experiment we did and plant root experiment we did as well.
