Here are our supplies we started with, clear cups, cran-apple juice, water, vinegar, and coca-cola, and peeps of coarse!!
We had a great day on our first day back from Spring Break!! We started our dissolving peeps experiment today. In this experiment we brainstormed some questions... "Will the peeps change colors?" "Will the peeps dissolve in the different liquids?" They did GREAT on figureing out good questions to start our scientific method process, I really think they are getting the hang out it now! :-)
Here are our supplies we started with, clear cups, cran-apple juice, water, vinegar, and coca-cola, and peeps of coarse!! Next, we graphed our hypothesis. We discussed that we all didn't have to have the same hypothesis and that's why we are testing our results. Most of the class hypothesized that the coca-cola would dissolve the peep the best... We will see!! Here is our graph! It's nothing fancy, but they really enjoy signing their name and testing their hypothesis.
Then, once everyone had made their hypothesis we placed the peeps into the solutions. We talked about solvents and solutions. I even did a demonstration with crystal light powder to show something dissolving! It's great to have a classroom with lots of random things. Never know what you might use for science! :-)
And finally we drew and wrote our observations and will do so everyday. This lets the students make observations and compare and contrast changes that have occurred.
Hope you enjoyed this science experiment as much as we did! It's super fun and easy to do! You can use any liquids you want. The fun is just in making observations and just seeing what will actually happen!

We learned about weather all week long before Spring Break! First, I introduced my cloud people. They have legs to show students how high or how low each type of cloud is in the sky.
We made models of each type of cloud.
Then, we went outside to see what types of cloud we had that day! We illustrated what we saw!
Another day this week we made rain in a jar! Take VERY hot water in a clear jar. Then, put a plate over the top and fill the plate with ice. Inside the jar clouds form then rain! The kids were very excited about this science experiment!
We also made tornados in a water bottle. The kids LOVED this!!
AND, for being such great meteorologist I gave them all a special treat!! A pet cloud!!!
Last Friday T-1 and first grade had a special surprise for all of our fantastic kiddos!! In the afternoon we watched The Lorax and ate special Thing 1 and Thing 2 snacks. In my classroom in the morning we made Horton Hears A Who eats and did a Horton writing activity. We colored Horton, cut out Horton and wrote what we would tell Horton is we were a Who. The speech bubbles can be purchased at my TpT store here.
And this was our special Thing 1 and Thing 2 snack! It's red jello, strawberry or cherry, and I dyed the whip cream blue to be the crazy hair of Thing 1 and Thing 2!! The kiddos loved them!!
Today we read Bartholowmew and the Oobleck! Then... We made oobleck!! Since it was so nice outside we made it inside then they each got to hit it with the spoon to feel that it was hard when they hit it, but when I scoop it it pours like water! Then, I scooped it into cups and outside we went to play in the oobleck! Some didn't want to get dirty, some were really excited to touch it, and some got REALLY dirty!! :-) check out our photos!
Then, we wrote three adjectives about what we thought about Oobleck. You can get this paper at my TpT store here.
One of my AWESOME parents sent in green eggs and ham today!! The whole class LOVED it!
Today was also crazy sick day!! I have a photo of my I love teaching socks...but I didn't have time to take a picture of the class in all their crazy socks! Epic fail! We just ran out of time with all of the fun stuff we were doing!! :-)
Today we also rewrote a part of the Dr. Seuss book "There's a Wocket in my Pocket" and each kiddo decided what was in their pocket! Take a look!
This sheet can be purchased here at my TpT store! Today we did all things cat in the hat!!! We dressed like thing one and thing two! Then, during math. We played roll a cat in the hat dice game! And then during theme time we made either thing one or thing two and put our faces on them!! So cute!
