I sent some GREAT kiddos to First Grade today! I love them all! They were begging me to be their First Grade teacher! It touches my heart that they love me as much as I love them!
Today was our last day of school! This morning we had Super Kids Fun Day! My Super kids played hard, ate LOTS of candy, got some snowcones, had their hands painted, even bought some princess crowns! They had so much fun and we appreciate all the hard work our Specials (PE,Art, and Music) teachers and parent volunteers put into the event to make it such a success!

During a rainy recess we drew perspective pictures of ourselves! I had each student get on the floor and trace their feet and hands on the paper. Then, each student had to draw themselves how someone would be looking at them if they were standing on a glass floor! They turned out great! They thought their tiny bodies were funny!
Since our last day of school is tomorrow we cleaned our desks with shaving cream today! We have to make sure our room is super clean! We are in the lead for the cleanest classroom for the whole year! :-) I wrote their first initial on their desk with shaving cream then once everyone had their initial on their desk they got to scrub and draw on their desk! Then, we took wet paper towels and cleaned it off and dry paper towels to dry it off! They had a lot of fun! Some of them decided to make beards like their dads! :-)
Tomorrow is our last day of school and we are having Super Kids Fun Day. So, I wanted to have a end of year review party. This would let us have some fun together before parting for summer break and still be educational. SO... I decided to buy some water balloons and have the kiddos on two teams and we played an end of year review game by have one player from each team go head to head and when they knew the answer they had to do a jumping jack then they could answer! AND when they got the right answer they could choose to throw a water balloon in a hula hoop for 10 points for their team or at their teacher! (I invited Ms. Duffy's class to come to our end of year review party too!) we had so much fun! Check out our great photos!
Then, after all this fun we had Popsicles to cool down in the heat! AND Ms. Duffy and I snuck up on some of our students and popped water balloons over their heads! :-)
At the beginning of the year on the first day of schools I have each student a bag of lucky charms with a tag that's said "Im lucky to have you in my class" so I decided to make them something for the end of the year as well. I made a little goodie bag filled with candy for each of my students and I made a tag that says "It was a treat having you in my class" you can get my bag tags at my TpT store here.
I have been saving this post because I didn't want any of my moms from my class to see what their child made them before Mother's Day! So here are some of our Mother's Day crafts we made for our moms!
First, we made abstract vase bouquets. Another craft we made was "I'll love you to the moon and back"
Each student cut out a moon and drew a ladder and whatever else they wanted in their picture. Then, I took each student outside to pose on the brick wall like they were climbing the wall. We printed these photos and they cut themselves out and glued them on their picture! These are just a few of the crafts we made!
My class LOVES Mo Wilems "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and all of Mo Wilems. We decided we were going to write out own version of the story! Each student wrote and illustrated a page to complete our class book. We have several teachers retiring at my school and my students were curious to know what retiring really meant, so while explaining to them I was also telling them our Superintendet was retiring, they got so excited and said that's the book we want to write...So we wrote "Don't Let the Pigeon be the Superintendent" check out our book at Scribble Press here.
Today we played Spelling Battleship. I created this sheet the other day and I couldn't wait to try it out with my class! They had a lot of fun! You can get this sheet at my TpT store.
I always want to give my great volunteers an end of year gift because their help is sooo appreciated, but in on a budget and I want to get every volunteer something! So it always leaves me in a pickle! :-)
So, this year I decided to get each volunteer a small with a special note attached. I have the greatest parents and kiddos! I got some really great gifts! Thank all of you so much!! :-)
