To start the experiment the kiddos have to be in pairs. I already have pairs in my classroom because I use teaching pairs. Teaching pairs teach each other important facts during my lesson is I tell them to teach their partner.
So, they are paired with a partner. Each learner will get to be the "flower" and the "insect". The flowers job is to hold the Cheetos. The insects job is to land on the Cheetos and get pollen (Cheetos dust) on their fingers. So one partner starts as a flower, they hold the Cheetos the other partner takes their pointer and thumb and rub the Cheetos between their fingers. Then, one they think they have enough pollen to pollinate the next flower they tell their partner to flip. The "flower" flips their hand over with their top of their hand up and the "insect" lands to see if their pollen falls off when they land on the next flower and move around. Then, get the hand sanitizer out and the partners switch jobs! Easy breezy! Here are our photos! :-)
