I try to incorporate a science project into my lesson plans each Friday. This Friday we did 2!! At this point in the year I show my students the supplies I have and they do the entire scientific method themelves as a class. They come up with a question and hypothesis and they even want to graph their hypothesis and then we experiment! Our first science experiment was with peeps. I have each student a peep on a small plate and told them we were going to use the peeps on the small plate and the microwave. They thought about a question and they came up with "What happens when you put peeps in the microwave and turn it on for 10 seconds?" Next, they came up with different hypothesis. "It will change color." " it will get sticky." "it will get bigger or smaller." those are just a few. So two at a time they came up and put their peeps inside. I let them watch for about 3 seconds, I didn't want to stand directly in front of the microwave for to long.
Then, we found out if our hypothesis was correct or not. It grew REALLy big and fluffy.
And finally, once everyone had a giant peep we ate them!!
I think you can tell we enjoyed the end reaults! :-)
